What will it taketo retire?

Privacy & data notice · Updated July 26, 2026

Your plan stays here. No account required.

Retirement-plan inputs and calculations remain in your browser. The application does not include Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or another behavioral-analytics script.

01

Plan information stored locally

The timeline, expense and income entries, account labels and values, goals, milestones, housing information, portfolio choices, saved scenario comparisons, and simulation settings you enter are stored in this browser's IndexedDB. The educational-use acknowledgment is stored separately in local storage. The planner has no account system and keeps no server copy of your plan.

02

Calculations stay in the browser

Tests using many possible market returns, real historical retirement periods, and history remixed into five-year chapters all run in your browser. The planner does not upload your inputs or results to its application server and does not sell them or use them for advertising.

03

No behavioral analytics script

The application does not load Google Analytics or an advertising tracker. Site hosting may still provide the site creator with aggregated traffic and performance measurements derived from ordinary connection data, but those measurements are separate from the retirement plan stored in your browser.

04

Ordinary connection data

When the page loads, the hosting and security provider may process standard technical information such as an IP address, browser or device details, request times, and security cookies or logs. This supports delivery, reliability, and abuse prevention and remains separate from the retirement plan saved in your browser.

05

Downloads, device transfer, and outside services

You can download a plan-transfer JSON file on one device and import it in another browser. Importing reads the file locally; it is not uploaded to the planner. JSON, Markdown, and PDF files remain wherever you choose to save or share them and may contain sensitive financial amounts, so use a trusted transfer method and delete copies you no longer need.

If you use the optional PayPal support link, you leave the planner and PayPal handles information under its own privacy practices. The planner does not receive payment credentials.

06

Your control and important limits

Use Delete all saved analyses in the Results comparison section to remove analysis history without changing your current plan inputs. To remove the saved plan, scenario history, acknowledgment, and other first-party website data together, clear the website data for whatwillittaketoretire.com in your browser settings. Delete downloaded reports separately. Because there is no server copy, the site creator cannot retrieve, restore, correct, or delete a locally saved plan for you.

Browser storage is convenient, not a secure financial vault. Avoid shared or public devices, and never enter Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, or payment credentials—the planner never asks for them.
